CINEMATICS

After discovering a mutilated pile of human body parts, BLACKLIGHT and 9 VOLT search the entire facility for any unknown entrances from Earth. This search is a gameplay sequence involving exploration and puzzle solving. When the player reaches the final room, the camera pans from the gameplay third-person perspective to a cut scene showing the room and the heroes in a full-body shot centered in the frame.

INT: CLOSED ROOM
Wide-angle shot reveals barely functioning alien tech in various stages of disrepair littered throughout the room. Red lighting radiates from below, providing an up-lit, crimson, moody glow across BLACKLIGHT and 9 VOLT creating ominous shadows behind and above them. Chilling music plays in the background.

9 VOLT

(miffed)
Dammit! We must have missed
something.

BLACKLIGHT shakes her head. She begins pacing while kicking debris. 9 VOLT’S head rotates following BLACKLIGHT’s pacing.

BLACKLIGHT

There’s no way. We searched every corner. Every square centimeter. We didn’t miss anything.

BLACKLIGHT stops pacing as her eyes grow wide in realization. She manifests her powers and a full-sized, two-dimensional, cartoon unicorn poofs into existence in front of her outstretched arms. The unicorn lowers its head and charges a pile of large debris shattering it into smaller pieces. Camera centers on 9 VOLT’s face. His gaze is upwards as he chews on his bottom lip.

9 VOLT

But it just doesn’t make any sense. There’s no way.

BLACKLIGHT (O.S.)

(angry)
Well, there is one way.

9 VOLT

(confused)
But there’s only one portal, and only our squad can open it. And only from this side.

Camera pans to BLACKLIGHT. Her jaw is clenched as her eyes narrow.

BLACKLIGHT

(deadpan)
Yep.

Camera pulls back, bringing both heroes into frame. 9 VOLT’s eyes widen as his jaw slackens. BLACKLIGHT’s stony expression remains unchanged.

9 VOLT

(shocked)
Wait! But that means…

BLACKLIGHT

Yep. That means one of our friends did it.

Camera pans, rotating behind the heroes and returning to the gameplay angle.
